5th Edition of Post Insurance–Mr Pace Half Marathon

Zimpost, in partnership with NICOZ Diamond, Global Risk Underwriting Managers (GRUMA) and Mr Pace Athletics Club, hosted the fifth edition of the Post Insurance–Mr Pace Half Marathon at Alexandra Sports Club in Harare on 20 September 2026. The event, which has grown into an established fixture on Zimbabwe’s athletics calendar, was held under the theme “Nurturing Champions for the Future.”

The 2026 edition attracted strong participation across the 21km half marathon, 10km, 5km and wheelchair categories, with organisers targeting more than 600 athletes. The event also attracted foreign-based athletes, reflecting its growing international appeal. The organisers increased the overall investment in the event to US$25,000, with approximately US$9,900 allocated to prize money across the various categories.

In the main 21km race, Andrew Dick was crowned the men's champion after crossing the finish line in 1 hour, 1 minute and 46 seconds. He was followed by Godwin Kalakura in 1:02:29, while Blessing Waison finished third in 1:03:52.

In the women's category, Melody Kaseke claimed first place in 1 hour, 15 minutes and 38 seconds, followed by Caroline Mhandu in 1:16:09. Defending champion Fortunate Chidzivo finished third in 1:17:17.

The wheelchair races were also a key feature of the event. Samson Muroiwa won the men's 21km wheelchair race in 1:15:04, while Margaret Bangajena won the women's wheelchair category in 1:08:00.

Beyond competition, the half marathon provided a platform for health, wellness, community engagement and the development of athletics talent. The organisers have increasingly positioned the event as an avenue for identifying and supporting emerging athletes, particularly young people and those from rural and disadvantaged communities.
